Both of these early patent 4 & 6 bottles are embossed: "SOLE AGENTS - BARNETT & FOSTER LONDON".

On the 29th December 1873 a patent was registered by H.Codd and F.Foster - an improvement to the tool that formed the groove in the neck of the bottle.
Codd's Globe Stoppered bottle needed a new type of filling machine, which had been covered in an earlier patent (2212). These machines were manufactured only by Barnett & Foster (as can be seen above) who were well known in the mineral water trade.
